About the Committee
The Age Friendly Community Committee was originally established by Council in 2011 as a commitment to consulting with residents on the age-friendliness of the Town of Mahone Bay.
The overall purpose of the committee is to provide leadership, consultation and engagement activities in the process of making the Town of Mahone Bay an inclusive age-friendly community.

The Audit Committee is established to comply with the requirements of the Nova Scotia Municipal Government Act that the Town Council shall annually appoint an audit committee. The committee is responsible for duties such as reviewing financial statements, evaluation of internal control systems and reviews of adequacy of audits.

The Cemetery Committee is established through the Town’s Cemetery By-law. The committee’s responsibilities include approving title transfers of cemetery lots, setting criteria for memorials, approving changes placement of structures and objects in both of the Town’s cemeteries, establishing fees, rules and regulations by recommendation to Town Council and advising staff concerning the care of the cemeteries.

Police Advisory Board
About the Committee
The Police Advisory Board is established to comply with the requirements of the Nova Scotia Police Act.
The function of an advisory board is to provide advice to Council in relation to the enforcement of law, the maintenance of law and order and the prevention of crime in the municipality, but the advisory board shall not exercise jurisdiction relating to complaints, discipline, personnel conduct or the internal management of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
