Climate and Energy Program Manager
The Town of Mahone Bay is inviting applications for a full-time, Climate and Energy Program Manager on a 2-year term basis.
The Climate and Energy Program Manager provides leadership directing and coordinating implementation of the Town’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Action Plan and associated climate mitigation and adaptation initiatives. The Climate and Energy Program Manager is responsible for implementing and monitoring progress of action items described in the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Action Plan and for developing new strategies for sustainability, clean energy solutions for residents and businesses, and for promoting existing programs.
The Climate and Energy Program Manager will work under the supervision and report to the Town’s Chief Administrative Officer and may occasionally be responsible for direct supervision of interns and volunteers.
Applicants should have at least one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience working in climate and energy related fields (municipal, private company, non-profit, volunteer). A full job description is available here.
Please submit your cover letter, resume, and three references (at least one professional reference) to firstname.lastname@example.org by August 16th, 2021 (subject line to include Climate and Energy Program Manager in all emails).
Only those who are selected for an interview will be contacted.
In total, six dead trees will be removed. Two trees will be replaced, one at the fence line behind the Visitor Information Centre and one in the centre of the cemetery (not in the same place, but in an available space in the same general area). The remaining four trees will not be replaced at this time after an inspection showed that the healthiest thing for the existing trees is to allow them to thrive with the reduced competition for resources – we look forward to watching them get big and strong.
The Town has been discussing trees as part of our natural assets for several years and while we continue our research and discussion about what it looks like to respect this natural asset, it is a fact that part of living with trees as an integrated part of our urban environment is the need to maintain trees; that means trimming, thinning, re-planting, and even removing trees when necessary.
We ask that residents remember that multiple experts have been consulted about the need for these trees to be removed, and that this is a work site that is dangerous for the tree removal crews – these dead trees are dangerous which means that their removal will be dangerous. Please stay clear of the worksite for everyone’s safety.
