On Wednesday, March 31st at 7pm the Town of Mahone Bay will co-host an online panel discussion with the South Shore Chapter of The Council of Canadians.
The topic is "Inequality and a Just Recovery". As we move toward a COVID free world, how can municipalities better respond to issues such as poverty, climate change, discrimination, affordable housing, transportation and a sustainable local economy? Join us live on our YouTube channel to join the discussion, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW1IRlgVqIPM-QZqe4oZHuA Are you interested in Mahone Bay's Built Heritage? The Town of Mahone Bay's Heritage Advisory Committee is seeking two citizens of the Town to join their group.
To learn more about the work of the Heritage Advisory Committee and to find the application form, visit the Committees page of the Town website, https://www.townofmahonebay.ca/committees.html, or contact Town Hall. Have you been watching all of the changes at the Michael O’Connor Memorial Bandstand?
We want to talk to you about the possibilities for this space. Check out the Parks + Greenspaces page on our website, https://www.townofmahonebay.ca/parks--greenspaces.html for information on what has already happened and to learn how to join the discussion about what other updates would make this special space even better! We are excited to present a Draft Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reduction Action Plan for community engagement and review before the plan returns to Council for approval.
Over the past year, the Town has been collecting data related to greenhouse gas emissions and has worked closely with Town partners to model the Town’s emissions profile and develop preliminary action items and targets to propel the Town towards a carbon neutral future. We hope that you’ll join us for a Virtual Open House session via zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83302257915 on March 10th, at 7pm for an overview of the Plan followed by time for your questions and comments. This session will be recorded to view at a later date. Additionally, the Draft Plan can be viewed on the Town website: https://www.townofmahonebay.ca/electric-utility.html where comments can also be submitted. |
