Position Description
Title:                        Public Works Technician
Reports to:              Public Works and Transportation Manager
Status:                     Casual
Classification:         Public Works and Transportation
Location:                  Town Hall, 493 Main Street
Hours:                      Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm plus some evenings and weekends. On call during winter months.
 
Scope:
The Public Works Technician – Casual position is responsible for a variety of operational and maintenance tasks. Their primary duties will be to maintain parks and open spaces. This position will also be required to perform other duties as assigned including transportation services (streets & sidewalks), and assisting water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection & treatment and electric utility staff as needed.
 
Experience/Skills

• Applicants should have experience in operating gas and electric groundskeeping equipment
• Miscellaneous power tools and equipment
• Class 5 NS driver’s license
• Basic carpentry, painting skills, mechanical, pipe fitting and electronic skills considered an asset
