During Municipal Awareness Week, we’re shining a light on local government, the level of government closest to home and closest to the people.

Creating more ways for your voice to be heard, Mahone Bay has recently launched our new civic engagement platform Get On Board Mahone Bay! This new online hub makes it easier than ever to ask questions, share ideas, and stay informed. You don’t need to attend a meeting to have your say, just register and join the conversation when it works for you.

By using this modern platform, Mahone Bay is joining thousands of communities working to remove barriers to engagement, building trust, and making sure more people can help shape the place we call home. On Get On Board, you can learn about big community projects, catch up on updates, and tell us what matters most to you. Here’s what we’re talking about right now:

Edgewater Project: A once-in-a-generation upgrade to one of our most important streets. We’re improving water, sewer, and storm systems, protecting our harbour, adding safer walking and cycling routes, and creating a more accessible, beautiful waterfront. Tell us what features matter most to you and how you hope to use the space!

Housing Accelerator: Mahone Bay received over $400,000 to support new housing and affordable options. We’re improving permit systems, reviewing fees, exploring town-owned land, planning for affordable housing, and creating support programs. Developers, builders, and landowners, we want to hear what you need to help bring new homes to our community.

Trees of Mahone Bay: Help us protect and grow our urban forest. Suggest tree-planting locations, share concerns about trees needing attention, or tell us where a tree could make your street greener and healthier.

Riverport Electric Light Commission: Engagement page hosted by the Town of Mahone Bay for residents within the RELC utility to access useful information, ask questions and contribute to discussions leading up to the Annual General Meeting.
