6/22/2026

Manager of Finance
Town of Mahone Bay

Lead with Expertise. Build Strong Financial Foundations. Support Community Decision-Making.
The Town of Mahone Bay is seeking an experienced and collaborative financial leader to join its senior leadership team as Manager of Finance.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Manager of Finance serves as the Town's Treasurer and trusted financial advisor to the CAO and Council. This role provides leadership across all aspects of municipal finance, including budgeting, financial reporting, treasury management, internal controls, payroll administration, and regulatory compliance.

As Treasurer, you will hold an important position of public trust, providing independent financial oversight and strategic advice that supports sound decision-making across the organization. Working closely with Council and senior leadership, you will play a visible role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and long-term financial sustainability.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a community where your expertise will be valued and where you can see the direct results of your work through the programs, services, and infrastructure that support residents every day.

What You'll Bring
  • University Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CPA designation.
  • Progressive experience in financial management, accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, financial systems, and general ledger management.
  • Knowledge of public sector accounting standards and municipal finance practices.
  • Familiarity with Nova Scotia's Financial Reporting and Accounting Manual (FRAM) is considered an asset.
  • Experience presenting financial information to senior leadership, boards, elected officials, or governing bodies.
  • Political awareness and the ability to work effectively within a municipal governance environment.
  • A collaborative leadership style with the ability to build trust, support positive change, and work effectively across departments.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience leading and developing staff, including performance management, annual reviews, coaching, and fostering a collaborative team environment.

If you're a finance leader who combines technical expertise with strong relationship-building skills and a commitment to public service, we'd love to hear from you.
