The days of dust, bumpy surfaces, and slow traffic are almost over! After seven months of major infrastructure upgrades on Edgewater Street, the project team is finally in the home stretch on the street-side. Work on the waterfront trail continues.
Right now, the schedule depends a lot on the weather, especially dryness and temperature, because that affects when asphalt can be laid. Crews are still grading the road surface, and a hand-patching team has started filling in sections with small “slugs” of asphalt. If temperatures rise as expected later this week, the team plans to begin laying down much larger amounts. Their goal is to complete the entire base layer of asphalt on Edgewater before the week is over. While this work continues, the grader will keep fine-tuning the road and preparing the gravel to create smooth, level driving surfaces. The final topcoat of asphalt will be added in the spring, when warmer temperatures will help ensure a high-quality finish. Thank you for your patience. Here’s hoping for good weather ahead!
