March 8 marked International Women’s Day, a time to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It is also an important moment to reflect and renew our commitment to advancing gender equality.
Mayor Lohnes-Croft warmly invites you to join us for our upcoming Council Café on Thursday, March 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, as we come together to recognize and celebrate the spirit of International Women’s Day. We are delighted to welcome our neighbour, Lady Spillington, as a special guest. She will be sharing a few light-hearted notes from her community column, Teacup Tattler, bringing her signature charm, wit, and plenty of cheer to the gathering. In Lady Spillington’s words: “International Women’s Day may be technically behind us, but strong women do not operate on technicalities. We operate on backbone, brilliance, and the uncanny ability to run a meeting while mentally planning supper. This morning is for the women who build towns without needing applause. The ones who organize the fundraiser, chair the committee, steady the room, and still remember whose birthday it is. Now pay attention. Come for the tea. Proper tea. Lord and Lady Spillington will be bringing a small tea gift, because no gathering of consequence should end without something lovely to steep later. Consider it our contribution to civic morale. It will be sharp. It will be warm. It will be community at its finest.” We hope you can join us for this special hour of community, conversation, and celebration. Everyone is welcome!
