We are aware of a technical issue with our website impacting the availability of council and committee meeting documents. We are working to fix this issue.
If you need access to any of the missing information, please call Town Hall or email [email protected]. Be waterwise, Mahone Bay! Every effort helps during Water Restriction Order. Saving 25,000 gallons of water per year might sound big, but it’s absolutely doable with a few smart habits and small changes. Simple ways to be smart with water: Pitcher of drinking water. (save +1,500 gallons/year) Keep a pitcher of water in the refrigerator instead of running the tap with each glass you drink. This way, every drop goes down you and not the drain. Turn off the tap when brushing teeth. (save +3,000 gallons/year) Running the faucet can waste up to 4 gallons each time. Turning it off while you brush saves water for others and for the planet. Shower shorter. Shower smarter. (save +4,500 gallons/year) A standard showerhead uses 2.5 gallons per minute. Reducing your shower from 10 minutes to 5 minutes saves 12.5 gallons each time. Don’t flush your water away. (save +4,000 gallons/year) Each toilet flush can use between 1.6 and 6 gallons. Three tips - avoid using your toilet as a trash can, if it's yellow let it mellow, and try adding a sealed, weighted container or brick in the tank to reduce water per flush. Wash full loads only. (save +12,000 gallons/year) Running your dishwasher or laundry only when full can save up to 1,000 gallons per month. If your washer has a load-size setting, match the water level to your laundry. Water is precious and protecting it isn’t just about scarcity. It’s about smart living, sustainability, and care. Be smart with water because it’s just good practice. Remember, Mahone Bay, every drop counts! Town Hall will be closed on October 13th for Thanksgiving.
