Town Hall will closed on Monday, September 30th for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.
To learn more about National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, visit. https://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-heritage/campaigns/national-day-truth-reconciliation.html Thank you to everyone who attended our National Tree Day celebration at the new Community Orchard yesterday!
Today was also an exciting day as our Tree Donation Recognition Monument was installed this morning. We've relaunched our Community Asset Donation Program. This program allows community members to donate benches, picnic tables and trees. Picnic table and bench donations are recognized with a plaque on the donation. Tree donations will be recognized on the new monument in Jubilee Park. To learn more about the Community Asset Donation Program, click here. All Mahone Bay residents should have received, in the mail, a rack card called Celebrate! Mahone Bay listing upcoming events in our community.
There was a date error on that rack card and in our recent Facebook post. Mahone Bay United's Country Fair is actually on September 29th, not October 6th. We're very sorry for any confusion this may cause! Join us on Wednesday, September 25th at 4pm for National Tree Day!
We will be celebrating the new Community Orchard adjacent from the Community Sports Field at the Mahone Bay Centre, 45 School Street. There will be tree plantings and promotion of our tree planting programs. Looking forward to seeing you there! There are so many great community events happening around our Town this fall! Wonderful opportunities to get out and meet your neighbours, new and old.

The Mahone Bay Legion monthly breakfast is happening on Sunday, September 29th, breakfast starts at 9:00. Play! Learn more about the dance at mahonebaycentre.com, all other event details are available on the Festivals of Mahone Bay Facebook page, facebook.com/FestivalsofMahoneBay The Town is taking action against Hemlock Woolly Adelgid, an invasive pest that kills hemlock trees at a rate of 95% within 4-15 years by treating the ones on Town owned property, starting with Jubilee Park. If you see flagging tape around trees in the park, please do not remove it, these have been put in place by Atlantic Tree Solutions, a company that we have hired for the treatment of our trees.
We realize that there are many private property owners in town that have hemlocks, which need protection. We would recommend reaching out to Atlantic Tree Solutions at [email protected], to have your trees assessed. Please forward any questions about the Town's treatment program to [email protected]. Please be advised that there will be contractors on site, on and along Edgewater Street conducting borehole/rock probes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week. There will be traffic control on site, and you may experience some delays.
Thank you for your patience Mahone Bay! Interested in running?
