Join us on Friday, July 4th at 10am for an exciting funding announcement at the Michael O'Connor Memorial Bandstand!
Big changes at the bandstand! A big thank you to Ironbound Rigging, North Sails Lunenburg and Ramrod Welding for their work envisioning, creating and bringing this project to reality, completing improvements to the bandstand property several years in the making.
Join us at a grand opening event at 7pm on Thursday, July 3rd to show off the upgrades and officially dedicate the Michael O'Connor Memorial Bandstand. There will be speeches by the Mayor, Michael's family and Legion Band members followed by the Legion's first bandstand summer concert. The Town of Mahone Bay is organizing a bulk purchase of rain barrels. You can order yours by visiting rainbarrel.ca. Rain barrels will be delivered to Mahone Bay in July.
Rain barrels are great for conserving water, reducing local flooding, providing a source of water for your garden, reducing your water bill, and protecting your foundation. If you have any questions please email [email protected]. The Mahone Bay Pool is kicking off the summer swimming season with a Pool Party! The party is this coming Monday, June 30th from 4pm to 6pm and will include a BBQ.
Have you registered for your 2025 membership yet? Find more info about registration at https://www.mahonebaypool.com/ Town staff and community members have been working to create a digital map of all the trees in Mahone Bay. Urban trees offer many benefits, they improve air quality, provide shade, and help manage stormwater. We encourage community members to contribute data about the trees on their own properties to help build a more complete picture of our town’s canopy.
You can access the map at ca.pg-cloud.com/mahonebayns or scan the QR Code below. Reach out to us at [email protected] if you have any questions. Every tree counts—thanks for pitching in! On the evenings of Monday June 23rd to Wednesday June 25th, Mahone Bay & District Fire Department members will be conducting their annual door-to-door fundraising campaign.
Did you know that Mahone Bay has a new Stormwater Management By-law?
Residents can review regulations regarding the management of stormwater on private and public properties to prevent flooding, environmental harm, and disruption to the Town’s drainage systems. We encourage all residents to take a look! The bylaw can be found here. There are many simple steps homeowners can take to protect their homes against flooding, including the removal of debris from storm drains, culverts and eavestroughs. Consider adding a rain barrel or extending your downspouts. We’re excited to announce that Mahone Bay’s Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign raised over $3,900 this year!
The proceeds from this year’s campaign will be donated to the Town’s fundraising efforts for a new pool! Thank you to the Mahone Bay Tim Hortons and thank you to everyone who bought Smile Cookies! We’re excited to announce that Town Hall News will be going fully digital!
This decision has been made for fiscal and environmental reasons. September will be the last month that you will receive the newsletter in your mailbox. To sign up for the digital version of Town Hall News, scroll to the bottom of any page of the Town’s website and enter your email address in the form. Having trouble finding the form? Give us a call at 902-624-8327 or email [email protected] If you or someone you know would still like a paper copy, copies will be available in a dispenser outside of Town Hall. |
