Crews are in the final stretch of paving work along Edgewater! You can expect traffic delays and disruptions to continue over the next two weeks. Parking lots along Edgewater will also be closed during this time.

-Harbour Path – reflecting Mahone Bay’s maritime history

​We’re in the homestretch!

Crews are putting the final touches on the Living Shoreline and along Edgewater, getting everything ready for the concrete crew to arrive by Wednesday, May 20. This next phase will bring the remaining curbs and sidewalks into place, starting at Kedy’s Landing and moving down Edgewater.

At Kedy’s Landing, the two entrances to the seaside parking lot will be poured in concrete. To keep things accessible, one entrance will stay open while the other is being done. Once poured, the concrete needs about three days to set before vehicles can drive on it.

Also next week, contractors will return to finish the post-and-rail and post-and-rope features along the shoreline side of the trail. This has to be completed before paving of the trail begins. The asphalt crew is expected to follow behind the curb and sidewalk work, likely starting the week of June 1. Good news is they expect the trail paving itself to take just a day or two!

After that, work shifts to Edgewater Street. Paving will happen in sections, one lane at a time, with traffic control on site to help keep things moving. If you’d rather, you can use the Main - Clearway - Clearland detour during the few days in early June when the final top layer of asphalt is being laid.
The church parking lots along the waterfront will also be getting fresh asphalt, so there may be times when one or the other is temporarily closed.

If all goes as planned, both the road and trail will be finished soon, and landscaping of the green spaces will begin just in time for summer.

A great 30+ person turnout for last night's Mahone Bay Community Land Co-operative Housing Workshop at the Fire Hall. Hosted by the MBCLC and the Solterre Design team, it was an excellent opportunity to learn more about the co-operative living model; decision-making around passive design solutions, shared spaces and utilities; and the stages of research and readiness required of this project.

RFP New Town Website​
Deadline for Submissions: 2:00 p.m. June 19, 2026.

The Town of Mahone Bay is inviting proposals from qualified web development firms to design and build a modern, accessible, and user-friendly municipal website.

Our current site no longer reflects the Town’s evolving needs. A new website will include migrated content (in collaboration with staff) and serve as a central hub for residents, visitors, and businesses.

We’re looking for a solution that is easy to navigate and search; accessible and compliant with current standards; a hub for information and online services; simple for staff to maintain; and fully owned by the Town.

Proponents must demonstrate a clear understanding of the project and include a fixed project cost along with annual support pricing. Domain management and cybersecurity will continue to be handled by the Town’s existing provider.

The Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run is spending three weeks touring the Maritimes with runners representing countries from all over the world.

On Thursday, May 21, Mahone Bay welcomes eight runners spreading the message of peace. This event celebrates human connection and the togetherness of communities. Come out and witness this remarkable expression of love and peace as runners pass through town with the Peace Torch.

The team will pay a visit to Bayview Community School before heading towards the Michael O'Connor Memorial Bandstand for a short ceremony. Please line the route and show the runners a warm Mahone Bay welcome! You can also join them on the route from Bayview to the bandstand should you wish to walk or run.

12:40 PM Runners visit students at Bayview Community School
2:00 PM Runners depart Bayview heading along Clearway to Main
2:15 PM Runners and community start arriving at the Michael O'Connor Memorial Bandstand for a short welcoming ceremony.
