Starting tomorrow, Monday, February 3rd between the area of 308 and 328 Main Street, Town contractors will be removing and pruning street trees on the sidewalk's edge. During this time, the Main Street entrance to Spur Street will be blocked. Traffic control will be on site on Main Street while this work is taking place. Pedestrian traffic will be re-routed from Main Street to Kinburn Street then through the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission parking lot, back to Main.

Sometimes a tree may look healthy from street view but isn’t (as in the picture below). All of the trees being trimmed or removed have been assessed by an arborist. The Town views our urban forest as an important asset and is dedicated to protecting and growing it. This includes removing dead or dangerous trees to make way for planting new trees that will be enjoyed by future generations. The Town of Mahone Bay is seeking volunteers to be the frontline staff for the Comfort Centre at the Mahone bay and District Fire Department at 41 Hawthorn Road.
A Comfort Centre is a place where people can go for warming, cooling, electricity, washroom and other amenities during an emergency situation.
