As Mayor, I am pleased to welcome you to the Town of Mahone Bay.
First settled in 1754, Mahone Bay continues to thrive as a focal point for tourism in Lunenburg County. With the iconic view of the three churches dominating our streetscape, we celebrate the idyllic beauty of the town. We respect the gifts of nature that we enjoy, especially the harbour side that borders the town. We readily embrace our responsibility for environmental stewardship and we encourage all to enjoy and sustain the beauty around us.
The key contributor to the on-going success of the town is the citizens. Mahone Bay is committed to a philosophy of being an age friendly community. This helps ensure that families with small children live, work and play alongside our senior citizens. Persons of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds are welcome in our community. All of our citizens can become engaged to improve the experience of living here. People who are considering a quiet, comfortable retirement or families seeking a safe, supportive environment to raise children need look no further than Mahone Bay - a great place to visit and an even better place to live.
Volunteer organizations help sustain our Mahone Bay community. The Fire Department, Chamber of Commerce, Settlers Museum, five churches, Mahone Bay Center, Bayview Community School as well as a number of well-known festivals are all operated by citizen volunteers. There are many other community groups that residents eagerly support. Everyone is welcome to participate.
I am proud of the efforts of our citizens and business leaders to improve the quality of life that we are fortunate to enjoy in Mahone Bay. On behalf of Town Council and everyone living in Mahone Bay, I welcome you to share it.
