Mayor’s Welcome

Mayor C. Joseph FeeneyTown CrestAs Mayor, I am pleased to extend a warm welcome to visitors to our web site.

First settled in 1754, the Town of Mahone Bay was incorporated in 1919. The town boundaries and population have changed little over the past two hundred and fifty years.

We are well known as one of the most picturesque small towns in the province. One of our greatest assets is our harbour and our access to the sea. We are aware of the importance of our environment and are conscious of our responsibilities to protect our natural beauty.

As one of the three towns located in Lunenburg County, Mahone Bay participates as a partner with other municipal governments to provide a variety of services to our citizens. You can find out more about these services through this site.

We are truly fortunate to have a large number of dedicated volunteers. The many volunteer organizations help to make Mahone Bay more vibrant and forward thinking. We have a volunteer Fire Department, an active Chamber of Commerce, the Mahone Bay Settlers Museum, five Churches, The Mahone Bay Center and the recently constructed Bayview Community School. These are all examples of the vitality of our community. In addition, Mahone Bay is well known for its festivals. I encourage you to get involved. It is a great way to meet new people and get to know the community.

I, together with the members of Town Council, am proud of the efforts of our citizens and business leaders to improve the quality of life that we are fortunate to enjoy.

C. Joseph Feeney
